How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in the Client Area

Last updated on Apr 30, 2025

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Eco Web Hosting account by requiring a code from your mobile device in addition to your password. This significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised access.

🔐 Step 1: Log in to Your Client Area

Go to https://my.ecowebhosting.co.uk and sign in as usual.

⚙️ Step 2: Open Security Settings

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner

  2. Select Security Settings from the dropdown

  3. Click Click here to enable under the Two-Factor Authentication section

📱 Step 3: Set Up 2FA

  1. Scan the QR code displayed using an authentication app, such as:

    • Google Authenticator

    • Authy

    • Microsoft Authenticator

  2. The app will begin generating 6-digit codes

✅ Step 4: Confirm and Enable

  1. Enter the current 6-digit code shown in your app

  2. Click Verify Code & Activate

You’ll now be prompted for a code from your device every time you log in.

🧾 Backup Codes (Optional but Recommended)

You’ll be given backup codes in case you lose access to your phone.

  • Store these in a secure location (not in your email inbox!)

  • Each code can be used once to regain access
